Monthly Archive for February, 2007

Ha!

Well 32-ish days later ( no I haven’t just got up! ). Really must try to get on with this!
I think we’ve been doing ok HE wise:

  • alot of number bonds to 10 and 20 to help them try and sink-in (sigh!)
  • loads on Henry VIII and his head-lopping habit
  • Class TV on CBBC (lots on different religions lately) - also Romas & Vikings, Water, Geography - just loads - it’s brilliant!
  • Progressed with English Made Easy (herein referred to as EME), Maths Made Easy (herein referred to as MME) and Science Made Easy …see a pattern?… (herein referred to as SME).
  • Kidpix (hope we’ve seen the last of N writing rude sentences about my bo**om and getting the G5 to ’sing’ them!)
  • Loads of library books (MUST stop buying so many!)
  • Phonics - working with N to help her along (bought the Jolly phonics CD to sing along to with the actions - H soaked it right up straight away!)
  • TV seems to have dropped a bit since we had NTL installed (basically kidwise we only have BBC2 (AM), CBBC, CBeebies and CiTV (which is only good for Bratz (yuk!)). So CBeebies is OK for H (except when we have to join in with EVERY episode of Boogie Beebies) and N loves CBBC lately - esp. Raven.
  • Staunton (Excellent VFM on that one!)
  • Walks, Parks & Horses
  • Started MEP maths - N didn’t like the look of it, but I’m sure once she gains some confidence with it, we’ll be fine - it’s a different approach which maybe what she needs with maths.
  • Trying to get N to write creatively of any length is still like trying to get blood from a stone! - must get some prompts/possibly storyboards to help.
  • Need to be more creative - clay, painting, mixed media, junk modelling,
  • Lapbook, Lapbook, Lapbook - need I say anymore - JDI
  • N has still been invited to parties (3 in Jan)- we’re luck that she hasn’t been forgotten about.
  • Have been attending a local HE group on Thursday PM’s which is good, mixture of kids all ages and everyone’s easy to get along with, N has attached herself to 2 girls of about her age which is nice. She has also been joining in with the French lessons. Went to Intech with them last week which kept us busy all day.

Mmmmmmm, loads more has been going on just having a brain freeze, the weather’s getting milder now (loved the snow last week - ‘wishing’ for more - would love to see the kids sledding down Butser Hill on home-made sleds!).
Ooooh - applied for an allotment yesterday - hope we get on the list to get one soon!
Byeeeee!
